Cobalt Carbonate

Cobalt carbonate is a red monoclinic crystal or powder. It is the inorganic compound with the formula CoCO3. This reddish paramagnetic solid is an intermediate in the hydrometallurgical purification of cobalt from its ores. It is an inorganic pigment, and a precursor to catalysts. Cobalt(II) carbonate also occurs as the rare red/pink mineral spherocobaltite.

Cobalt Carbonate Application:

Cobalt carbonate is mainly used to produce cobalt chloride, cobalt sulfate, cobalt oxide, metal cobalt and cobalt naphthenate.

It is also used as a pigment, a glass pigment, ceramic, a feed microelement additive and microelement fertilizer. It is used to manufacture cobalt oxide, which is the raw material of cathode materials of lithium batteries.

In the ceramic industry, it is used as a colorant, in the manufacture of cobalt salts and in the coloring of porcelain.

It is also used as an ore dressing agent in mining industry.

In the organic industry, it is used to make catalysts, camouflage coatings and chemical temperature indicators.

It is used as microelement fertilizer in agriculture.

It is used as an analytical reagent in analytical chemistry.
