Erbium Chloride

Erbium chloride chemical formula ErCl3·6H2O. Molecular weight 381.73. Pink deliquescent crystal. Melting point 774℃, boiling point 1500℃. Soluble in water and acid, slightly soluble in ethanol. Anhydrous salts can be obtained by heating in a hydrogen chloride stream, which are light red or light purple flake crystals with slightly hygroscopic properties. Less soluble in water than its hexahydrate salt. When the water solution is heated, it gradually becomes opaque, and when it is dehydrated, it becomes a mixture of erbium chloride and erbium oxychloride. Form adduct with hexamethylenetetramine.
Application:
Uses: used in manufacturing erbium compound intermediates, optical glass, chemical reagents and other industries.
