Octocrilene

Octocrilene is an effective UVB absorber that easily combines with the oil in sunscreen formulations. It is an excellent solubilizer for other solid and crystalline UV absorbers. It has the characteristics of high absorption rate, non toxicity, non teratogenicity, and good stability, and can absorb UVB and a small amount of UVA light. Approved by the US FDA as a Class I active sunscreen ingredient, it is widely used in the United States and European countries.

Octocrilene is mainly used as a UV-A and UV-B filter for sunscreen and topical drug formulations. It has strong absorption ability for ultraviolet (UVB) radiation with wavelengths ranging from 280 to 320nm, with a maximum absorption wavelength of 303 nm. In addition, Octocrilene has a stabilizing effect on the UVA sunscreen avobenzone, which can absorb UVB and short UVA radiation, providing long-lasting skin protection.
