BPA stands for Bisphenol A, which is a synthetic compound with the chemical formula (CH₃)₂C(C₆H₄OH)₂. It is an industrial chemical that has been in commercial use since the 1950s and is primarily utilized in the production of polycarbonate plastics and epoxy resins.
