Pseudoboehmite is also known as pseudo-boehmite, pseudo, quasi, gelatinous boehmite, or boehmite. It appears as white thixotropic gel in wet state and free-flowing white powder after drying. It features a high specific surface area (300-470 m²/g), large pore volume (0.5-2.0 cm³/g), and excellent peptization performance with a peptization index ≥95%. It is insoluble in water but can be peptized by dilute acid to form a stable transparent sol. After calcination at 550-750℃, it transforms into γ-Al₂O₃, which serves as a high-performance catalyst carrier.

Application

‌Catalyst carrier‌: Pseudoboehmite is widely used in residue oil hydrotreating, vehicle exhaust purification, methanation and other petrochemical and environmental catalysis scenarios.

‌Binder‌: Pseudoboehmite could be added in 10-30% proportion for molecular sieve molding, which can increase the compressive strength of products by 40%.

‌Emerging fields‌: Lithium battery separator coating, electronic ceramics, flame-retardant fillers, heavy metal adsorption materials, etc.
